Before and After the Wedding – Lucky Seven Snippet

So my friend Char Newcomb tagged me for #luckyseven, a funny Twitter writers’ exercise where you post–you guessed it–7 sentences from your work-in-progress. The rules are as follows:

  • Go to page 7 or 77 in your current manuscript.
  • Go to line 7
  • Post on your blog the next 7 lines or sentences – as they are!!
  • Tag 7 other people to do the same

So here are 7 sentences from page 7, line 7 from Before and After the Wedding.

“Good morning, husband,” I murmur, pushing sleep-tousled hair from my eyes.

He glances my way, not yet getting up. “Morning.” For a moment, I think he’s going to bend over to kiss me and my heart beats a little faster, but he doesn’t.

I swallow down the uncertainty, and he does bend over then, his fingers warm as they brush against my cheek, pushing my hair back behind one ear in that familiar gesture.

He stays there a moment, hovering over me, and I think, perhaps we’ll start this first day as man and wife with something more intimate than a kiss.

But Mark pulls back and gets up instead.

I think this may well be the very first snippet I’ve ever posted from the book!

OK, so final rule is to tag 7 more writers. Anyone else want to play? A.J., Beth, Elena, Izzy, Kathryn, Nancy, Regina?
