Romantic Comedies to Love: Overboard

I realized I forgot one funny movie in my list of 10 pick-me-up movies, and that’s the classic 80ies movie Overboard with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, one of my all-time favorite romantic comedies.

In the movie, a spoiled upper-class woman capriciously refuses to pay a carpenter hired to remodel the closet in her yacht, but when she later falls overboard and loses her memory, he cons her into thinking she’s his wife so she can work off the debt as his housekeeper–and the mother of his four rowdy boys.

Of course, he’s also not above a little revenge for her cruel behavior, or how about some of these great quotes?

Dean: You jumped my bones the first night we met!
Annie: We did it on the first date?
Dean: Couldn’t call it a date really, we just did it in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven
Annie: I’m a slut
Dean: What did you say?
Annie: Nothing

Or this one:

Annie: I don’t belong here, I feel it, don’t you think I feel it. I can’t do any of these vile things and I wouldn’t WANT to. Oh, my life is like death. My children are the spawn of hell, and you’re the devil. Oh God.
Dean: But baby, we LIKE you.

Check out previous romantic comedies I’ve featured, the witty Intolerable Cruelty and charming Dan in Real Life.
