When I was a kid, I’d sometimes go picking mushrooms with my parents. (Well, I did before I got old enough to really mind the mosquitoes. Die, evil enemies!*)
Anyway, the prettiest ones were, of course, never edible. Like this fellow:

But regardless of the disappointments of locating specimens like the above and not getting to pick them, I always had a great fondness for mushrooms. (Yes, the edible kind!) So I can’t help but be thrilled when I get a delivery like this one:

Procini mushrooms from Italy! Ah, I have died and gone to heaven.
Now, off to make pasta ai funghi, mushroom pasta! Yum.
*Yes, yes, I know mosquitoes are useful food for birds and what not, but still…
